Login credential breaches expose the username and password combinations used to access online accounts. Even if passwords were encrypted, weak encryption can be cracked. More dangerously, many people reuse passwords across multiple sites — meaning one breach can compromise accounts elsewhere. This type of breach is particularly common and often leads to follow-on account takeover attacks.
